On April 21, representatives of the building contractor RD Construction, architects from UNK Project and real estate market experts participated in the urban bike ride “Landing in the District. Testing Bikeways”. Amateur riders cycled over the streets of Zamoskvorechye district, to check the convenience, quality and safety of the popular bicycle routes.
After moving to its new office the building contractor RD Construction announced the launch of the urban environment and infrastructure improvement program “Landing in the District”. The first stage was organizing a test bike ride timed to the opening of another cycling season.
The event aimed at making the city better, assessing the safety and comfort of traveling by two-wheel transport, and giving recommendations on improving the quality of cycling lanes.
The bike riders were off at the new office of RD Construction on Shlyuzovaya Quay and rode over Valovaya, Pyatnitskaya and Bolshaya Ordynka streets. Total extension of the route was about three miles.
After the ride all its participants filled out special questionnaires where they left their comments and observations, rating the bike transport infrastructure of Zamoskvorechye district. The experts pointed out that it takes less time now to travel the city over the cycle route and praised the comfort and convenience of the cycling lanes on Pyatnitskaya and Bolshaya Ordynka streets. Nevertheless the amateur cyclists unveiled a number of shortcomings: high curbs, pedestrians violating the red line separating the traffic flows over the combined cycling-pedestrian lane, limited parking space for private bicycles, and some other important criticisms.
RD CONSTRUCTION USES THE SUCCESSFUL PRACTICE OF MAJOR INTERNATIONAL CORPORATIONS. WHEN MOVING TO A NEW OFFICE, NOT ONLY ARE THEY ENGAGED IN THE DEVELOPMENT AND FIT-OUT OF THEIR OWN OFFICE OR BUSINESS CENTER; THEY ALSO TRY TO IMPROVE THE URBAN ENVIRONMENT IN THE ENTIRE DISTRICT. THIS IS THE MAIN PURPOSE OF OUR ACTION.
